What Businesses Want To Know About Facebook Marketing

Marketing on facebook is now becoming a standard practice for most offline businesses. I know plenty of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, hair salons and many more businesses in my area are using facebook to interact with people & drive more business.

I mean companies are even hiring social media managers specifically for the task of managing their online social media real estate.

So a lot of businesses that are thinking about starting using facebook or haven’t been using it that long probably have a lot of questions about using it for business.

Questions like:

- Facebook etiquette: how often should we be replying to fans?

- Does using images prove to be more effective than just words on Facebook pages?

- How often should you post your website content on your Facebook page?

- Is there any value to creating and using Facebook groups?

Well there’s a really good post over at hubspot that answers these questions and a whole lot more.

So whether you’ve got an offline or an online business, take a look at some of the most common questions businesses have about facebook & see if the answers to them can help you get more out of facebook.

  1. Just love Facebook as a marketing tool. Been using it for ages now. With a fan page you can interact so easily and a good tip is to point your fans to an offer on your main site. This way you get them on your list.
If Facebook pulls the plug on your page, you will still have your list.

  4. Mark, great info. Met a fellow yesterday who complained that his business was down 49% in one year wiping out all progress since 2001. Yet, the man has no website, no Facebook, no Twitter and no blog. How is someone needing his excellent service supposed to find him to hire him?

Another firm just failed here after 40 years in business. They had old website, no blog, and a barely active Facebook page.

    Hey Mike,

Yep times are tough at the moment particularly for offline businesses & if they don’t embrace new online technologies & services which can help them then a lot more are going to fall by the wayside.

But I do think most offline businesses are starting to catch up, I think that’s why you see a lot more people providing ‘local marketing’ services to small businesses. Doing things like SEO & social media management. So from that point of view it does provide a lot of opportunities for people with online marketing experience to help those in the offline world.

    Mark

  6. Facebook is good, but creating a blog is even better.
Most of my traffic comes through the blog which is connected to all social networking sites.
    Don’t ignore a blog!
