TweetToday Twitter announced the launch of it’s official retweet button. Up until now Tweetmeme has being doing a pretty good job of making it easy for website visitors to spread the word about interesting content but this is Twitters solution.
Twitter have also set up a Tweet Button Generator page where you can create retweet buttons for your blogs & websites. I haven’t seen anything on there yet about a wordpress plugin but I’m guessing it will follow pretty soon.
Twitter announced the new retweet solution today on their blog & you can watch their video below to get the low down on the TweetButton & you can also see it in action in the top left of this post.
**UPDATE** I just heard on the ‘grape vine’ that the Simple Twitter Connect wordpress plugin now supports the new TweetButton & will automatically add the new TweetButtons to all your wordpress posts. I haven’t used this myself so if you’ve got any feedback on how it works or any comments regarding the new TweetButtons please leave them below.

Ya that’s it in the post. Just said I’d pop it into this post so people could see what it’s like. Tweetmeme certainly does the job but as far as I know Tweetmeme will be rolling back its retweet button service eventually. This is a long overdue tweak to twitter, as you have said, only Tweetmeme has been the leader in retweets, now twitter have launched their own re tweet button, we will now have an official bite at the cherry to gain our extra targeted traffic.

First of all hope you and fine Cork, are doing well?
Once again your post is onn the money, I am soon hoping to start a Twitter account, its just one of those 2.0 aspects I really need on board but neveer ventured, however as soon as I do this re-tweet button is on the list!
At the moment I use the Digg button, and when I do put the tweet button on to cover my posts, I am not sure whether to have it along side of the Digg button, what do you think?
Apparently I hear stories about people who cannot get a Digg account, I believe they are backlogged on admin?
