Selling Online: 5 Simple Steps To Selling On The Internet

Selling online is obviously the core of any online business. Sure they’re are ways to earn online without having to sell (Example: Adsense) but to have a business that can grow & last the test of time then having products to sell be they your own or somebody else’s is vital.

The aim of this article is to provide you with the groundwork for setting up your own online business & to teach you how to sell online.

Step 1: Find a niche market

You will want to find a niche market with rapid buyers who just love to spend money! Easier said then done of course but they’re are plenty of them out there. Examples of niches like this include golf. Here are three resources you can use to do your own niche research:
- Good Keywords
- Keyword Spy
- Keyword Elite

Step 2: Find an affiliate program for a product related to your niche.

Your going to want to sell something & the easiest way to do that is to use an affiliate program. There are millions of affiliate programs online. You should not have a problem finding a product to sell to your niche. Here are just a few places where you can find products to sell:
- Clickbank
- Commission Junction
- Linkshare

Step 3: Create content for your niche.

You need to create lots of quality information for your niche. If you are knowledgeable in the area of your niche market you can do this yourself otherwise you can purchase private label rights content or outsource the creation of your content. Here are some helpful resources for outsourcing:
- Elance
- Rent a coder
- Outsource Weekly

Step 4: Create a squeeze page or landing page

This is where you offer visitors the content you created for them in return for their email address. When they sign up you direct them to the affiliate product you’re promoting & use your autoresponder to send them the content you created & of course also use your autoresponder series to promote your affiliate product. Aweber is my autoresponder & I use them to create my email forms & manage my subscriber database I highly recommend them.

Here are some resources that will help you create your own squeeze & improve your email marketing:
- Aweber
- Sneaky Email Tricks
- Co-Registration List Builder
- Landing Page Tutorials
- Squeeze Theme

Step 5: Send traffic to your squeeze page.

Traffic is probably the biggest hurdle most ‘newbie’ online marketers face. If you want to start getting traffic fast to your squeeze page then the easiest way is to buy it. I DON”T recommend you jump into Google Adwords or pay per click straight away.

Your best option is to find ezines, newsletters & websites related to your niche & contact them about advertising on their websites or in there newsletters. You will also want to track your advertising to see which traffic sources are actually getting you subscribers & making you sales. To do this you can get a free account at Pro Tracker Plus.

So there you have 5 simple steps to getting started selling online. Obviously this is just the bare bones but it’s enough to get you started & get you profitable!
