Free Tools That Will Help Your Search Engine Optimization campaign:
Overture Keyword Tool
WordTracker (freetrial)

Any blog or website owner who wishes to get traffic without constant promotion and marketing will have to use some form of search engine optimization. While search engine optimization is a hotly debated topic, most experts agree on two things: in order to best optimize for search engines, you must establish reciprocal or one-way inbound links; and you must also optimize the content on your pages for specific keywords.

The first phase of any search engine optimization project is researching those keywords. Before you start to optimize, you must determine which keywords will pull the most traffic for the least amount of effort. You can do this by purchasing a subscription to Word Tracker or you can do this by using Overture Inventory to search “aggregate search” records for all possible keywords for which you could potentially optimize your blog. Record all of the returns you receive for an Overture Inventory search you perform on your given keyword. This keyword should be the main top for your blog our website, using the results you can become more specific as to which keyword to optimize your site for.

Your next step will be to analyze the site or page supply for your keywords. You can do this by searching for each of the returned keywords on Google. Not only will you want to record the search return data in terms of numbers, but you will also want to look at the top competitors for those keywords (i.e., are the PR 9 home pages or are they a deep page for an unranked site?) Optimal keywords for search engine optimization purposes will have high search counts, low site returns, and low-quality competition in the top slots.

Your next step should be to perform onpage search engine optimization. You can do this by using your selected keywords as titles and headers on different pages of your blog. You will then want to fill those pages will good information about the keyword in question; additionally, you will want to optimize it for a keyword density of 1.5%. This means that your keyword will appear approximately 3 times in every 200 words. This is not an exact science do do not worry about it too much, just make sure that your keywords feature heavily throughout your site.

The last step in your search engine optimization campaign is to perform offpage optimization. You can do this by submitting links to directories that contain a selected keyword in the link title. You can also join link swap programs and swap with other high-quality blogs or websites.

Getting links can be highly time consuming but there is software to speed up this job.
It’s called SEO Elite.

Using these steps you should get your SEO campaign off to a flying start I also recommend you check out The A to Z guide to SEO for a complete course on search engine optimization.

Hi Mark, Happy Holiday in Ireland.
I have found a neat little software(100% FREE) that can be ran in the background while you are online and also can promote any website while you are asleep or just away from your computer, simply by leaving your computer on (even if the monitor is off!) What it does, is show your website to other people in the network who ARE online and sends quality TARGETED traffic to your website 24 hours a day and 7 days a week! You also receive FREE advertising credits from every member in your downline, their downline members, etc… all the way to 10 LEVELS DEEP!
I’ve only been promoting it for a little while now and already have 30 members in my total team simply by sending some emails and making little blog posts like this one. I have 7 direct referrals, 14 second level, 8 third level and one fourth level all earning ME traffic by earning traffic for themselves leaving their computers on.
    This is also ALL FREE!
You can get YOUR copy of the software for FREE right now by clicking on my name. Happy Traffic!

Great information, though a little brief in some parts. More details would have been better.

    Thanks and regards.

    Hi Mark,

I think if you are going to write about using overture or wordtracker as a means to create a list of keywords for your website or blog you should give a little more details on both of these. How do you use them, what information they give back, how you read this information, etc. Overall though it was a good post and I look forward to reading more. By the way, it’s good to see another Irish person on the web at last.

Search engine optimization is the single most important feature of any business and so often overlooked by people apparently too eager to get out there and get trading.

I attained the #1 position for two of my keywords within two weeks of launching my site and SEO was a major part of the process.

There are other ways to push your site at breakneck speed to the top and I have put an e-book together which is FREE to anyone who would like to visit and download it, the:

    Seven Secret Steps

covers everything you need to do to reach the all important #1 spot, i did it and I’m hardly an expert so I’m sure as many of you as would care to try will also realise the same results.

    Mike
