Profit Centers You Can Build into Your Articles

Never forget that the bottom line is always to increase your profits. This is also true in article marketing, and many Internet Marketers earn an astounding amount of money simply by writing articles.

Articles can drive customers to your website, where a sale can be made. They can be used to build confidence and trust, and to establish yourself as an expert, which in turn increases sales. They can be compiled into a file and sold as private label rights articles. They can be compiled into digital products and sold.

But there is one more way to profit from your articles. You obviously want to advertise your website, within your author’s resource box, but what can you do within the article itself to monitize from it?

Remember that the object is to make money. Does it really matter whether that money comes from a sale of your product or a sale of someone else’s product, as long as it ends up in your pocket? Not really!

Use your competition to earn money. Sign up for their affiliate programs, and promote them within the text of your articles. Sign up for programs that are directly related to the content of your article, even if they are not in direct competition with you. Don’t be afraid of the competition – use them to your advantage!

When including affiliate links, make them attractive. You will discover that obvious affiliate links are usually ignored. If this means that you must direct the reader to a specific page of your website, and then have them click through to the affiliate products sales page, then do so. You can also use software that cloaks and/or shortens affiliate links as well.

The important thing here is to not allow your article to become an ad or a sales letter. Make sure it is informative, then recommend an affiliate product that fits in with the topic of the article. You may be pleasantly surprised at how much your overall profits increase, and how quickly that happens.

Mark, I am no expert, by any means, however, my first impression of your article drove me to read on because it was about just that – article writing, which I am extremely interested in. Not so much on Internet Marketing, but along the lines of short stories and some of you big guys have come up with some compelling copy lately. I was, however, turned off when you started putting the almighty dollar above all else. I have been disturbed lately to see many of you advertising by affiliate, other marketers’ material. My first impression is, “Gee, he’s run out of original work himself”. I feel, if that’s the case, you should set yourself to digging a little deeper and lying back on some of that abundance until the creative juices start flowing again. It’s in bad taste for experts like you to be taking the short-cuts or do I detect a little bit of desperation like us little guys experience all the time?

    Hey Patricia,

Your comments are very interesting and I’d like to respond to a few of them.

    You said
“I was, however, turned off when you started putting the almighty dollar above all else”

Well that’s why people visit my site Patricia, I show them how to make more money, get more traffic, write better sales copy, improve their email marketing & so on… It is an Internet Marketing blog after all.

Also calling Affiliate Marketing a “short cut” & that it’s “in bad taste for experts” to be promoting affiliate products, I do consider some what ludicrous, you would be fighting an uphill battle against most of the marketing community with that point.

I have products of my own which are promoted heavily through out the net & I also have new content on this blog every week but there are many many marketers who’s sole income comes from affiliate marketing I don’t consider those people lacking in “creative juices”.

That’s my two cents anyway Patricia, also if you’ve got a website I’d love to take a look at some of your short stories.

    Regards,
    Mark

    Hey Carol,

Just took a look at your blog.

    Here’s a few tips:

Keep the font & colour of your text the same in each post. Consistency & ease of reading is very important here & make sure you don;t have Yellow text on a White background it;s very hard to read.

You may also want to consider giving more prominence to your newsletter have a hover add come in & offer a free report as an incentive to join up.

Also when your promoting other websites in a post I find you will always get better results when you just promote one or two products or services per post (preferably one)

When you have too many links to other products in a post people just tend to click them all & never get around to reading a full sales letter or what exactly the product or service is offering.

That’s just a few tips for you. Also I recommend Rob Benwell’s Blogging to the bank for making money with blogs:

but there are many many marketers who’s sole income comes from affiliate marketing I don’t consider those people lacking in “creative juices”.

To follow up on that, the overwhelming majority of affiliate marketers do not make any money because they do treat it as a shortcut.

Above anything affiliate marketing is a business and treating it like a secret backdoor to profits almost guarantees failure(imo).

Promoting a highticket item from Clickbank or Amazon is not a shortcut but smart business. The same goes for promoting another marketer’s product. No matter who or what, treat your business first and foremost like a business.

All of this is all well and good, but if you really want loads of free traffic it’s all about position and attaining that all important Google #1 spot.

I actually have managed it for two of my keywords and article writing and submission was only a small part of the overall method.

I have written a free e-book entitled the:
