How To Get Website Traffic

how to get website trafficNo matter how much it’s talked about, no matter how many ebooks, videos, courses & tutorials are out there, the number one question from pretty much everyone doing business online is how can I get more traffic.

Well like I say in my sales video for the recession traffic system you either pay for traffic or you use free traffic strategies. So in this article I am going to go over some of places to buy paid traffic & some strategies to get free traffic.

Paying For Traffic

When it comes to buying traffic most people know about Pay Per Click. Places like Gogle Adwords & Facebook Ads are pretty well known but there are a lot of lesser know traffic sources out there where you can get traffic on the cheap.

Here are just a few lesser known traffic sources.

Remember when you’re just casually browsing the web always keep an eye out for the advertisements & see what company is delivering them. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of online advertising networks out their so when it comes to getting traffic that pays from these networks the key is testing & tracking your traffic & conversions.

Testing and tracking is extremely important because it will allow you to see which traffic sources are getting you customers & making  you money & which traffic sources are loosing you money so you can scrap the traffic sources that don’t work & increase the ones that do thus increasing your profits.

Free Traffic

Free Traffic is great but can take a lot of work to get. The key is to create great content, make it viral if possible & let the viral nature of the web spread your content around so you get direct traffic & increase your search engine rankings. Of course you need to target the right keywords with your content.

Here are just a few ways to build links to your blog or website & increase your rankings in the search engines.

  • Do guest posts for blogs in your industry
  • Write articles & submit them to the major online article directories as well as other media organisations
  • Create PDF reports that potential clients or customers will find very helpful & give them away for free. If they are useful they will get passed around & go viral.
  • Make your content easy to share on social bookmarking & social networking sites.  (If you’re using wordpress there are plugins which will let you easily do this)
  • Do videos! Youtube is the third most trafficed site in the world & Google includes YouTube videos in it’s search results. Also videos are a great medium to get your message or content across to potential clients & customers

So there you have a few ways to build links to your site, increase your search engine rankings & get free traffic.

But when it comes to picking between free traffic & paid traffic there isn’t much of a choice, you’re better off using both. Of course if you’re just starting out with a budget of zero then obviously focus on getting free traffic & then use profits to test some paid traffic sources.

Thanks Mark for indicating some of the not so well cited areas for advertisement for paid traffic. However, what I’ve found very important in your article is that the “key is testing and tracking your traffic and conversions”. This is where the rubber hits the road. Testing!

Hi Zama, I’m glad that’s what stood out. Without testing & tracking you’ll just be wasting your money when investing in paid traffic so it’s very important.

P.S. I’m doing a post on testing & tracking next week so watch out for that.

I really liked the idea of sending PDF reports to clients. It is not that difficult to do and can in fact turn out to be a good traffic building tool. Would try it for sure.
