Gmail can be a very productive tool, not just email but access to chat, calendar, docs & more all from one spot. Just to make it that bit even more productive here’s how to add Twitter to your Gmail sidebar.
Step 1. Click the green labs icon on the top right of your Gmail account after you’ve logged in.
Step 2. Click Gadgets & add the following URL:
-> http://twittergadget.com/gadget_gmail.xml
Step 3. Click add & the Twitter Gadget will appear on the menu on the left hand side of your gmail account.
Step 4. Log into your Twitter account via the gadget & you can now tweet to your hearts content via Gmail!

I just removed it from my account & tried installing it again & it worked fine. Just try logging out of gmail & back in again after you’ve installed it & it should work fine.
