How To Increase Your Search Engine Ranking

Content, as you might already know, is the first item search engine spiders look for when they’re cataloging and indexing web pages. The second item they look for are links coming into and out of your website. The links coming into your site tell the search engine how popular your site is, which is what makes generating incoming links a very important search engine strategy & is the primary way to increase your search engine ranking.

Here are seven ways to generate incoming links.

#1 Write and publish quality content. People, other website owners, link to relevant content. If you write and publish tons of quality content and you’ll start to see people linking to your site.

#2 Online directories. While there are many directories that charge for a listing, there are also several that will list your companies site for free.

#3 Write articles for other sites, article marketing. Writing articles and publishing them on other sites including article marketing sites, is a great method for getting inbound links.

#4 Write press releases and submit them to online press release websites. Be sure to include your website link at the end of the press release so media representatives can contact you, but also so you have an incoming link and interested visitors can find your website.

#5 Reciprocal links. Some reciprocal links are good as long as theyÆre coming from relevant websites. The trick is to balance reciprocal links with one-way links. Mix up your linking tactics so it looks natural to Google.

#6 Blog. Blogging is a spectacular way to generate fresh content and guest blogging on relevant blogs works a lot like article marketing, you generate links to your site in each blog post you write. You can also include links back to each of your web pages and allow your readers to reprint your blog posts as long as they keep the links in place.

#7 Participate in social networking. Posting tweets, and Facebook posts create incoming links to your website. In addition, when you comment on forums and other blog posts you also create incoming links via your signature.

As you are creating and implementing your search engine optimization strategies? Take the time to consider and include these linking tactics. While you may not be able to complete them all at the same time, instead focus on one tactic at a time adding to your SEO strategy as you grow.

Why On Page SEO Is Vital For Traffic

Many marketers get so caught up in the stampede for traffic that they spend all their time building links. They forget that one of the most vital parts of SEO are the on page factors.

These are not complex for you to do and are something that should be fundamental when you create a new site. Wordpress is an ideal platform as it typically lends itself well to search engine optimization.

The first step is for you to ensure you have set your title tag correctly. This needs to be 64 characters in length. Any longer and it will be cut off and this will look very odd in the search engine results.

The title tag needs to tell people what your site is about in such a way to entice them in to your web site. It needs to include a keyword that is specific for the page the title tag is on. Every page on your website should have its own unique title tag. You should never use the same title tag on every page.

Next are your meta keywords and meta description. These tell the search engine spiders what your site is about. They are not massively important to the search engines, as most of them will analyse your site to see what it is really about.

These are important if you are using Adsense as without these meta tags in place, you find your Adsense ads are not focused on your niche.

The meta description is important because it appears in the search engine results. It is 150 characters for you to get people to click on your link and come to your website. You need to be concise and enticing in the same sentence.

Your meta keywords and description should also be unique for each page within your site.

Any images on your site have what is known as ALT tags. These are tags which provide an alternative description for the visually impaired. These are noticed by the search engines and can get your images ranking well. Make sure you do not attach the same keyword to too many ALT tags and add the word graphic, picture, image or something similar afterwards. This will again help tell the search engines your website is relevant for those keywords.

On top of this you can include your keyword in the header 1 (h1) tag on your page, i.e. the title in the text. This is another indicator to the search engines that your site is important for that keyword.

Using your keyword well within the text of your page and including related keywords around it will also help your site rank.

You must make sure you do not spam or keyword stuff any of your pages because it is a surefire way to get yourself dropped from the search engine results.

By performing some simple on page SEO optimization you can gain the advantage in the search engines. Remember that not all marketers do this, and this can put you ahead of your competition, which is vital for your profitable success.

News From Florida and How You Can Find High Traffic Keywords

Just wanted to pop this out before my first flight today. I should be taking to the skies around three o ‘clock. (really looking forward to it) The fog has cleared & there isn’t a cloud in the sky, it’s perfect weather for flying! And to top it off it’s like 80 degrees outside, takes a bit of getting used to when your accustomed to the wet, cold & rainy days of southern Ireland. Well wish me luck!!! Here’s a great article for you:

===================================================
Search Engine Keywords Selection
===================================================

Search engines are the vehicles that drive potential customers to your websites. But in order for visitors to reach their destination – your website – you need to provide them with specific and effective signs that will direct them right to your site. You do this by creating carefully chosen keywords.

Think of the right keywords as the Open Sesame! of the Internet. Find the exactly right words or phrases, and presto! hoards of traffic will be pulling up to your front door. But if your keywords are too general or too over-used, the possibility of visitors actually making it all the way to your site – or of seeing any real profits from the visitors that do arrive – decreases dramatically.

Your keywords serve as the foundation of your marketing strategy. If they are not chosen with great precision, no
matter how aggressive your marketing campaign may be, the right people may never get the chance to find out about it.
So your first step in plotting your strategy is to gather and evaluate keywords and phrases.

You probably think you already know EXACTLY the right words for your search phrases. Unfortunately, if you haven’t followed certain specific steps, you are probably WRONG. It’s hard to be objective when you are right in the center of your business network, which is the reason that you may not be able to choose the most efficient keywords from the inside. You need to be able to think like your customers. And since you are a business owner and not the consumer, your best bet is to go directly to the source.

Instead of plunging in and scribbling down a list of potential search words and phrases yourself, ask for words from as many potential customers as you can. You will most likely find out that your understanding of your business and your customers’ understanding is significantly different.

The consumer is an invaluable resource. You will find the words you accumulate from them are words and phrases you probably never would have considered from deep inside the trenches of your business.

Only after you have gathered as many words and phrases from outside resources should you add your own keyword to the list. Once you have this list in hand, you are ready for the next step: evaluation.

The aim of evaluation is to narrow down your list to a small number of words and phrases that will direct the highest number of quality visitors to your website. By “quality visitors” I mean those consumers who are most likely to make a purchase rather than just cruise around your site and take off for greener pastures. In evaluating the effectiveness of keywords, bear in mind three elements:
popularity, specificity, and motivation.

Popularity is the easiest to evaluate because it is an objective quality. The more popular your keyword is, the more likely the chances are that it will be typed into a search engine which will then bring up your URL.

You can now purchase software that will rate the popularity of keywords and phrases by giving words a number rating based on real search engine activity. Software such as WordTracker will even suggest variations of your words and phrases. The higher the number this software assigns to a given keyword, the more traffic you can logically expect to be directed to your site. The only fallacy with this concept is the more popular the keyword is, the greater the search engine position you will need to obtain. If you are down at the bottom of the search results, the consumer will probably never scroll down to find you.

Popularity isn’t enough to declare a keyword a good choice. You must move on to the next criteria, which is specificity. The more specific your keyword is, the greater the likelihood that the consumer who is ready to purchase your goods or services will find you.

Let’s look at a hypothetical example. Imagine that you have obtained popularity rankings for the keyword “automobile companies.” However, you company specializes in bodywork only. The keyword “automobile body shops” would rank lower on the popularity scale than “automobile companies,” but it would nevertheless serve you much better.

Instead of getting a slew of people interested in everything from buying a car to changing their oil filters, you will get only those consumers with trashed front ends or crumpled enders being directed to your site. In other words, consumers ready to buy your services are the ones who will immediately find you. Not only that, but the greater the specificity of your keyword is, the less competition you will face.

The third factor is consumer motivation. Once again, this requires putting yourself inside the mind of the customer rather than the seller to figure out what motivation prompts a person looking for a service or product to type in a particular word or phrase. Let’s look at another example, such as a consumer who is searching for a job as an IT manager in a new city. If you have to choose between “Seattle job listings” and “Seattle IT recruiters” which do you think will benefit the consumer more? If you were looking for this type of specific job, which keyword would you type in?

The second one, of course! Using the second keyword targets people who have decided on their career, have the necessary experience, and are ready to enlist you as their recruiter, rather than someone just out of school who is casually trying to figure out what to do with his or her life in between beer parties. You want to find people who are ready to act or make a purchase, and this requires subtle tinkering of your keywords until your find the most specific and directly targeted phrases to bring the most motivated traffic to you site.

Once you have chosen your keywords, your work is not done. You must continually evaluate performance across a variety of search engines, bearing in mind that times and trends change, as does popular lingo. You cannot rely on your log traffic analysis alone because it will not tell you how many of your visitors actually made a purchase.

Luckily, some new tools (such as trackpoint) have been invented to help you judge the effectiveness of your keywords in individual search engines. There is now software available that analyzes consumer behavior in relation to consumer traffic. This allows you to discern which keywords are bringing you the most valuable customers.

This is an essential concept: numbers alone do not make a good keyword; profits per visitor do. You need to find keywords that direct consumers to your site who actually buy your product, fill out your forms, or download your product. This is the most important factor in evaluating the efficacy of a keyword or phrase, and should be the sword you wield when discarding and replacing ineffective or inefficient keywords with keywords that bring in better profits.

Ongoing analysis of tested keywords is the formula for search engine success. This may sound like a lot of work – and it is! But the amount of informed effort you put into your keyword campaign is what will ultimately generate your business’ rewards.

How To Get One Way Links & Traffic To Your Website or Blog Fast

Hope your weekend is going well. I’m just tying up some loose ends and packing as I’m heading off to Florida next week.

If you’ve been a subscriber for a while you will know I started flying lessons about a year & half ago; well due to Ireland’s “wonderful weather” & I stopped training over here but next week I’m heading out to Florida for a month to finally do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time & thats get my private pilots license.

And one of the joys of having an online business is I will be able to keep working from Florida thousands of miles away from home!

Right, well I promised you ways to get traffic & increase your search engine position So Here We Go……

The Press Release/Google News Trick

1. Go to google and see what some of the top news stories are in google news at the moment. If you can relate one of these stories to your industry – fantastic! What you do is go ahead and write a news article on that topic, if you can include keywords you want to rank high for in Google even better.

Now in your news article be sure to use a quote from you on the story. So for example lets say your talking about the recession, a popular topic at the moment, then you would say – Mr/Miss YOURNAMEHERE from http://www.YouWebsiteHere.com says “A recession is imminent” or whatever.

This way you have included a relevant link for your website in the news article. Now here’s the cool bit. Head over to http://webwire.com and do a web post of your article for under 20 bucks, and believe it or not your article with your name & your website address will be in Google News one the most high traffic sites on the web within about 10 minutes!! It a great way to get traffic & links and I highly recommend you give it a go.

Here’s one I did just a few days ago: http://www.webwire.com/ViewPressRel.asp?aId=57493

And check out how I rank on google news for the term “Make Money Online: http://www.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=make+money+online&btnG=Search+News

And as you can probably see you don’t have to be a fantastic writer to get traffic and links from this technique you just need a relevant story.

Submitting To Directories

2. Just by submitting your website or blog to directories you can get free traffic from those websites but also get links back to your site from a high page rank directory which will increase your search engine rankings. Some directories charge & some don’t but here are some of the top directories you can submit to:
