A mailing list is also called a follow-up system because it does exactly that – follows up on your prospects. The system is quite simple: you capture the email addresses and other related details of your prospects. They then become your leads. Thereafter, you will send them some friendly reminders about your offers, some freebies to warm them up to your good graces, and some tales and anecdotes so that they may get to know you better and you’d be able to win their trust.

A mailing list is also your leverage for so many things. Want to enter into beneficial joint venture that will catapult your online enterprise to the next level of prominence? Your JV partners will judge your worth based, partially, on the size of your mailing list. Want to host a seminar and you’re on the lookout for presenters? It’s a “what’s in it for me” business and they will ask how big your mailing list is.
