<p>As a translation company, we maintain and market a premium service image, targeted primarily at potential B2B clients.  These kinds of potential clients typically take more time examining our website, compared to say, a product website for cellulite-banishing cream.  It&#8217;s not so much our job to create landing pages to ads that jump off the page and grab someone by the face.  B2B service websites like Tomedes have to be a bit more subtle, somewhat graceful, and constantly evolving. No impulse ads that vibrate and dance across your screen while flashing that neon green link begging you to “click here now” -  will ever take you to <a href="http://www.tomedes.com/"><strong>www.tomedes.com</strong></a> .</p>
<p>As for more subdued SEO content, landing pages, and other non-caffeinated tools for increasing traffic and our conversion rates – sure, we get on board with that stuff.  Here&#8217;s the thing: in doing so, we found an additional source of CRO (conversion rate optimization).  What we&#8217;re about to say may cause you to think, <em>where do these weirdos come from? </em> Or, you may appreciate our perspective on possibilities for increasing conversion rates, which may be sort of outside the traditional outlined methods of online marketing experts.  This is because <strong>the source that led to a 13% increased conversion rate for us – overnight &#8211; is one of the least likely suspects: the About Us page.</strong></p>
<p>As a professional translation company and a B2B service, we offer something that is already needed – the way a rock band needs decent music equipment in order to perform.  Part of our job as the communications and marketing department for Tomedes, is to attract B2B traffic and get them to see why Tomedes is better than the competition – like Gibson or Fender do for rock bands, musicians, and guitar students.   When a musician weighs his options for a new guitar, he examines various models, plays several favorites, checks the price tags, and may want to know what other famous guitarists use this brand and model.  In the same way, potential business clients and the majority of our site traffic typically do not make impulsive decisions about our service.</p>
<p>Any given <a href="http://www.tomedes.com " target="_blank"><strong>translation service</strong></a> could affect a client&#8217;s reputation or interaction with their foreign language markets, or anyone else.  They want to check our rates; see what kinds of clients we have, and look around – briefly.  Still, while they may be there more than 30 seconds on average, they don&#8217;t enter our site to do some leisurely reading with their morning coffee, or spend all day checking facts in every single one of our blogs and articles.  So what one page will best provide an overall feel for our company, and some necessary info about our translation service?  Why, our About Us page, of course.  When you really think about it, it makes sense.  The About Us page probably divulges more than the content writer is aware of, in regards to the quality and caliber of a service, product, or company.</p>
<p>Anyway, our conversion rates weren&#8217;t dragging in the mud or anything, so we didn&#8217;t set out to build a marketing campaign of intensive conversion rate optimization, specifically.  At the same time, no one is shouting the name of Tomedes from any treetops – not yet, anyway.  We do focus a lot of energy on actively pursuing tools and methods for increasing traffic, conversion rates, SERP rank and SEO, yadda, yadda – you all know the deal.</p>
<p>A few months of Google Analytics data all revealed the same thing: our About Us page was kind of lame.  More so than other pages on average, traffic was hitting that hateful X button, only a few moments after arrival.  Obviously we needed a revision, asap – a web page revision that enticed our potential business customers to come have a look around and stay awhile&#8230;and buy something.</p>
<p>When you consider our old About Us page, it&#8217;s not hard to see why a disproportionate amount of traffic  was basically telling us, <em>dude, this sucks.  Later. </em> Here&#8217;s the intro from the old one:</p>
<p>“We provide high quality translations between almost every language combination.  Our clients have ranged between big and small businesses, government agencies and organization, educational institutions, and individuals as well.  We have had the experience of working with numerous organizations and individuals across the world, translating financial, marketing, technical, and legal documents in a wide variety of languages&#8230;”</p>
<p>Yeah, yawn. We know.</p>
<p>There are a lot of “problems” with this old intro.  But, one of the major flaws is that it doesn&#8217;t reveal anything “about us.”  It blandly states what any number of generic translation services can, or do, provide.  It doesn&#8217;t tell clients who we are as a company, where we come from, or what exactly we translate.  “Almost every language combination” is either grossly vague, or grossly overstated.  No translation service can provide translations for every language combination &#8211; there thousands upon thousands of them.</p>
<p>So, check out the intro for the new and improved Tomedes “About Us” make-over:</p>
<p>“We are Perfectionists.  Work-a-holics.  Passionate Linguists and Personable Personnel.  We are Believers in cross-cultural, cross-lingual communication between all peoples sharing this world.  We are Smart, Human Translations.”</p>
<p>Kind of snappy, eh?  Even if you aren&#8217;t impressed by it, it&#8217;s unarguably better than the old version, confirmed by the 13% conversion rate increase that happened immediately, as a direct result of the revision.  It&#8217;s true.  We checked.</p>
<p>This introduction, or the “Who” section of our new About Us page, is much more attention-grabbing.  The words themselves are more colorful and dynamic.  Well written About Us pages communicate passion for the work, show real people, give specific company history or details, and allow the company&#8217;s personality to color all of it.  No empty droning on and on about why we&#8217;re a superior translation service – even though we happen to think so.  But, rather than trying to do so in a boring essay format that feels like an old flat tire, the About Us revision brightly, candidly illustrates Tomedes as a premium quality translation service, through a series of categories that ask the most basic questions.  By structuring the content into Who, Why, How, What, and Where sections, the content is streamlined into sleeker, smoother, prettier paragraphs with substance.</p>

<p>What we&#8217;re suggesting, is that if this works for an About Us page, chances are it will work for any page that is not already thought to directly affect conversion rates or website traffic – your Help page, FAQs page, Contact page, etc.  Take a look at your traffic and site analytics.  If there are one or more pages that   frequently scare people away more than the others – improve them.  Remove the “boring.”  Give them style and character.  You may be surprised at how far a great personality can go.</p>

<p>Writing takes time: bloggers know that. Bloggers also know that good quality content is vital to their success. Besides writing, bloggers have many other things to do, so time is of the essence. To take advantage of the little time you have, here are some hints that will help improve your writing and your writing speed so you can get more done in less time.</p>
<p><strong>1. Optimize copy length.</strong> As blogger, you want to make sure you adequately address your topics, but it&#8217;s also important to balance your time. One way to do this is to write only the length you need. A study is published on the Internet demonstrating that longer copy generally earns more revenue. If you examine the data, however, you will see that short copy makes money too, just not as much. When you consider your time, however, you might find that you can earn more by writing less. Besides, shorter copy usually looks better and is easier for visitors to read.</p>
<p><strong>2. Develop a Routine.</strong> Spend some time upfront thinking, dreaming, planning, and collecting your thoughts. You might think you can afford that down time, but it will pay off.</p>
<p><strong>3. Start writing now!</strong> Sometimes the hardest thing to do is getting started. You&#8217;ve had a busy day and you&#8217;re probably tired and slow to get your thoughts going. In this situation, try writing. Force yourself to get started. Don&#8217;t worry about typos either; you can fix them when your writing is done.</p>
<p><strong>4. Set a time limit.</strong> Some writers feel like they write faster when their time is almost up. You can simulate this by setting a timer and going all out until the buzzer goes off. You can even make it a game and see how much you can do in the allotted time.</p>
<p><strong>5. Limit your topic.</strong> Including too much information gets you writing more than you have to. Do what you can to limit yourself to five points or less whenever possible. When new ideas come into your mind, save them for later.</p>
<p><strong>6. Collect your ideas in a file.</strong> Whether you use a physical file or just a folder on your hard drive, you can save up your ideas so when you need to write, you&#8217;ve got plenty of material to work with.</p>
<p><strong>7. Do your research first and then write.</strong> This way when it&#8217;s time to write you have your material ready on your screen or on your desk. Writing will go faster when you aren&#8217;t pausing to look up facts.</p>
<p><strong>8. Read aloud.</strong> Save editing time by reading your material aloud. This keeps your mind on the material and uses your eyes and ears to double your chances of catching mistakes.</p>
<p><strong>9. Get some quiet.</strong> You may think that this is impossible. You&#8217;re in a noisy workplace all day and then at home you have the children, the television, video games, and more going off all around you. Once everyone is in bed, you&#8217;re too tired to write. Many writers find that too much noise detracts from writing, making the process take longer. If you&#8217;re stuck in a noisy environment, try using some noise cancelling headphones, ear plugs, or over-the-head hearing protection like they use at the shooting range when it&#8217;s time to write.</p>
<p><strong>10. Get done and leave it behind.</strong> You&#8217;ve done the best job you can do in the amount of time you have to work with. Don&#8217;t extend the project through constant revision. Resist the urge to be a perfectionist and publish your material.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re a blogger or a writer of any kind, try these tips out and see if they make a difference in your life. Even if each suggestion saves you only a minute or two, they add up. Writing takes time, so the more time you have, the more money you can make and the sooner you can go do something else.</p>

			<p>So you are writing or thinking about writing e-books, and you want to make a living from it.  A lot of times people think they can go to all of the random informational/article sites and make themselves ready. If you ever want to take your e-books, and make money off of them, these are 5 ways to supercharge your e-book writing.</p>
<p><strong>1.	Niche</strong></p>
<p>Your e-book(s) must provide information to the reader that is original and something they have never heard or seen before. <strong><strong>Address a problem, concern, desire</strong>, or need</strong> that the reader already has. Your purpose is to find a solution to that problem.  You can even develop your own “niche” and provide them information they cannot find anywhere else.</p>
<p><strong>2.	Catch Their Attention</strong></p>
<p>If nobody wants to read your e-book, then you will never sell it.  The best way to catch their attention is with a <strong>catchy title</strong> and a well written sales page.  If you intrigue them first with a title &#038; sales page, make sure to keep the content of your e-book written well enough to keep their attention &#038; reduce refund rates. (which can be high for &#8220;infoproducts&#8221;)</p>
<p><strong>3.	Too Much Information</strong></p>
<p>Never give out too much information.  E-books are meant to tell a story, but they are not novels or textbooks.  Give them<strong> enough information that they feel satisfied</strong> &#038; enough information so that you have <strong>solved their problem, concern, desire or need.</strong> No body wants to read an extra 30 pages of fluff that they didn&#8217;t even need to read.</p>
<p><strong>4.	Market Your E-books</strong></p>
<p>You do not have to necessarily pay for advertising to let people know about your e-books, but you do have to let people know that they are available.  Get your e-books listed among the many listing sites available online, create an affiliate program &#038; contact people with similar products &#038; set up joint ventures</p>
<p><strong>5.	Be The Best</strong></p>
<p>Prove yourself as an expert in whichever topic you are writing about.  There are many ways of doing it, but the basics include a lot of research, and ultimately good writing.  Submit articles to ezinearticles.com &#038; goarticles.com on your niche topic also visit forums &#038; answer peoples questions. This is a great way to make yourself an expert in just a few days!!</p>
